A proper suit goes a long way for a headshot. Not only a sharp suit, but a well put together tie and shirt combination as well. In this article I am going to go over the do’s and dont’s of dressing the morning of your headshot.
I love fashion, don’t get me wrong but the standard Business Headshots is meant to be straight forward and far from vibrant colors, scarfs, T-Shirts or anything similar. So what is the best option? I’ve found that a black suit, mixed with a white shirt and colored tie is the absolute best option for men.
For women, I think a dark colored dress mixed with a modest necklace and glasses is a fantastic look. Of course items can vary based on the style shot and setting that is preferred. For a VC, I would suggest a lighter colored shirt as that is typically a more casual look with the office setting serving as the background.
Keep It Simple
Keeping it simple is the best way to go, and it’s even better to dress what you are comfortable in. If you cannot be in front of the lens dressed in certain attire it is best to completely avoid that. Finding the middle ground to what is comfortable and what is professional often works best and leads to the perfect shot.
From there, we take over and work around whatever challenges that may come up to make sure your shot comes out just as you have envisioned!
